Play it again July 2025
This new blog is being launched with new hope and resolve. Having lived the past twelve months under the shadow of hospital tests I have decided to take a break from the medical world and to take my chances. Reviewing my medical expenses shows that on average once a week for the past fifty I have been attending a doctor, a nurse. a specialist for a review, for assessment, for surgery. And all the while feeling that what will kill me is as yet undiagnosed. My ambition is to live a decade more and to see as few doctors as I can. They have served me well over the past 74 years. Now is the time to give them and myself a break. I am at peace with my decision and will have to persuade my family likewise. So the most recent blog (Last Impressions) which focused too often on dying is being succeeded by a blog a that focuses on living and loving people and the arts, poetry, literature, paintings. music, history, the cosmos, nature and in particular Ireland.
The Cosmos sent a clear signal during the week when I learned my bid for a waterfront holiday home in Wexford Town was unsuccessful. No longer will I seek to escape Dun Laoghaire for any more than a few days. I have now made my peace with the piers and the parks, the shops and the pubs, the culture and the weather.
