A funny group
A funny group
I’ve joined a funny group
Who aren’t out for money
Neither do they press
To join their little club.
The door is always open
Though very few come in
They call themselves the Friends
Friendship’s universal.
You can say your mind
And always get a hearing
Tolerance is everything
Every voice is equal.
It’s not about the power
The fame or the glory
Or corrupting influence
There’s nothing there to win.
Some believe in God
Better left undefined
Better called the Spirit
That defies description.
They try marketing at times
It’s not their strongest suit
They’ll probably die out
Having left the world a better place.
Their values once deemed strange
Now everywhere adopted
Equality and peace
Simplicity and care for nature.
They have raised the conscience
Of a world now more civilized
They have done their bit
While world just traveled on
Further into space
Nearer to God, perhaps,
Their journey near complete
The baton handed on.
